This office in Alexandria had two problems that often go together: too much heat and glare coming through the glazing, and windows that were overlooked from outside. The occupants wanted cooler, more comfortable rooms and daytime privacy — without darkening the space or losing the outlook.

The complication was access. On this facade, treating the glass from the inside wasn’t practical, so for this solar window film job in Alexandria, Sydney Tint Solutions specified an externally-applied Solar Gard solar film. Exterior films are engineered to be fitted to the outside face of the glass, which makes them ideal where interior access is limited, where the glazing sits behind fixed furniture or fittings, or where the building simply performs better with the film on the outside.

The Solar Gard film rejects a large share of solar heat and cuts glare, while its reflective finish adds daytime privacy — from outside the glass reads as a mirror in daylight, so people can’t see in, while staff keep a clear view out. It also blocks the UV that fades furnishings and stock.

Our installer prepared the external glass and applied the film cleanly, working safely at height where required. Because the treatment went on the outside, there was no disruption to the office interior during the install.

The outcome is a noticeably cooler, lower-glare workspace with built-in daytime privacy, achieved without replacing a single pane of glass.
